Transatlantic Orchestral Productions is having another Sound Gallery Concert in Costa Mesa Nov 19, 2011.

Sound Gallery, A Musical Exhibition

Kim Moody and Christine McDonald recently founded the Transatlantic Orchestral Production company. Their first production, Sound Gallery: A Musical Exhibition, was a small concert to raise money for cancer research. The concert featured original musical compositions by graduates of the University of California. All proceeds for this concert will go directly to The Clarity Foundation, a charity dedicated to researching effective ovarian cancer treatments. The concert was located at East London’s Rag Factory with a lovely after party at Brick Lane. I was lucky enough to have my music played in this event. The musicians did a fantastic job and the event was very enjoyable. Kim Moody and Christine McDonald are excellent event coordinators and Transatlantic Orchestral Production has endless potential. I am definitely looking forward to their next event.

Studio Upgrade

I am so happy to announce the arrival of some new studio gear! I am absolutely enjoying the two 2TB G-Tech External Hardrives. Backing up and ensuring my computer doesn’t become fragmented has never been easier. The new ADAM A7 studio monitors are wonderful and will allow me to further perfect my mixes. And the Animato Strings sound library is now in my arsenal; bringing the experimental progressive sound that I love so much, to my fingertips. I still prefer a live instrument recording but this sound library will definitely suffice in the meantime.

Big Shoes to Fill is a quirky dramatic comedy about a young man who must admit to his parents that he wants to go to clown college instead of law school. The film crosses the line between comedy and drama and speaks to the struggles of young adults having to admit to their parents that they may not be who they want them to be.

Kayla’s Kani is the story of a high school girl struggling to fit in with a hearing disability. No production sound was recorded during filming and the film is only accompanied by music. The music metaphorically represents Kayla’s struggle with her disability and fitting in.

Was amazing! What an awesome experience. Networking Orgy! I was part of the All Together Now Showcase (http://www.atnshowcase.com) produced by Jennifer DaRe. 60 amazing bands performed at our showcase, at the Bayou Lounge on Dirty Sixth Street, over the course of four days. I’ve never been so over worked, over partied, and happy to feel that way. By the end of SXSW, our knees were swollen and we could barely walk through the airport to get home. 6th street was full of fans searching for their favorite Bands, musicians searching for their next venue, and badges searching for the next big thing. And within all of this chaos you begin to recognize people. The energy is so hyped up and it doesn’t stop until early in the morning after the last day. I can’t wait to go back and endure the tests and bounties of SXSW.

Balcony Score Finished

Andrew has finished the score for a new short film called Balcony written and directed by J. R. Klymshyn. The score has a minimalist prog. rock sound and subltely yet effectively draws the unspoken emotion of this mellow drama into the foreground. Balcony is a short character piece about a young man who has recently moved to Los Angeles to escape an unfortunate previous relationship. While looking out on the city of LA from his balcony, he notices his neighbor coming outside to smoke a cigarette. She introduces herself to him and confesses that she felt there was a reason that she should stay home tonight, perhaps it was to meet him. Phantasy Blade

Andrew is diligently working on the score for a new video game called Phantasy Blade. Programmer William Starkovich is developing an RPG in the classic style of Zelda and Andrew will be creating the score. The score will carry the nostalgic qualities of 90s RPG music while sounding richer than ever with the new Komplete 7 Sound Library. Phantasy Blade is going to be a unique, nostalgic, beautiful, and ultimately very fun experience. Music Samples will be posted on this website soon.

Changing Lanes

Andrew Carroll will be scoring Changing Lanes, a short documentary for Just in Time for Foster Youth, an organization that gives scholarships to children of the foster care system, filmed and edited by Jeff Katz (mrjeffkatz.com). Jeff Katz’s documentary A Just Life was featured in the 2010 San Diego Film Festival. The score forChanging Lanes will be upbeat and cheerful with an overall sense of hopeful melancholy. Andrew is looking forward to working for a good cause and with talented filmmaker Jeff Katz.

Andrew Carroll will be scoring Thank God For You, Charlie, a short film by UCLA MFA Candidate William Barker. Thank God For You, Charlie is a thrilling and suspenseful roller coaster ride that keeps the viewers on the edge of their seats. Despite the short length of the film the characters are well developed and the plot is exciting from beginning to end. William Barker is a fantastic film maker whose quality of work and character will not go unnoticed. Feel free to listen to excerpts of the music on in the music section of this website.
